A mark on a report tells you they got it wrong. It does not tell you WHERE. The matrix does: all 121 sums from the tables of 1 to 11, each in its real state, updated after every round. You can see at a glance that it is 8 × 9 that sticks, not “the eight times table”. You know what to revise tonight, down to the cell.

3 · Memory tricks

The sums that stick have a trick.

A handful of sums resist more than the others, and they are often the same ones. Drilling them on repeat is not enough: MULTICHA offers a memory trick for the harder tables. The child gets a way to work the answer back out, not just an instruction to recite it.

4 · The three modes

Three ways to play. One progression.

A child who tires of one mode switches and keeps making progress: all three feed the same matrix and the same levels.

A timed round where the child beats their own record and collects Prize Points. It is the default mode, and the one they come back to.

Flashcards they steer themselves

The child marks what they already know, and the session concentrates on the rest. Useful right before a test.

Each cube is one sum from the tables. In red, the ones the child still gets wrong.

The problem is not the table. It is four sums.

A child who says they do not know their seven times table knows 7 × 1, 7 × 2, 7 × 5 and 7 × 10 without hesitating.

Go back to the matrix above: out of the 121 sums in the tables from 1 to 11, this child already has 74. Only ten of them really resist. Reciting the whole table therefore means spending most of the time on what is already known: real effort, almost no progress.

Which app should I choose to teach a child their times tables?

MULTICHA is built for children aged 6 to 12. What sets it apart is that it does not make them revise uniformly: the app spots the sums the child gets wrong and brings them back automatically, instead of letting them repeat the tables they already know. It covers the tables from 1 to 11, perfect squares and powers of 2.

Is MULTICHA free?

The download is free and the tables from 1 to 5 are available without paying. MULTICHA Premium costs 18.99 € per year and unlocks the tables from 1 to 11, perfect squares and powers of 2. There is also a MULTICHA School subscription at 9.99 € per year, reserved for pupils of partner schools: it only activates with the school's code.

Does MULTICHA collect data about my child?

No. The privacy label published by Apple on the App Store states « No data collected » for this app. MULTICHA shows no advertising and requires no account.

From what age can a child use MULTICHA?

The app is aimed at children aged 6 to 12. It is rated 4+ on the App Store.

Which devices does MULTICHA run on?

MULTICHA is published for iPhone, from iOS 15.0 onwards. There is no Android version and no web version. The app weighs 7.3 MB and its interface is available in 20 languages.

Does MULTICHA work on iPad?

Yes. The app is published for iPhone, and like any iPhone app it installs and runs on iPad. The display is simply not redrawn for the tablet: it appears in the compatibility window Apple provides, at iPhone size. Everything works, including the matrix and audio mode.

Does MULTICHA work without an internet connection?

Yes. Once the app is installed, everything happens on the device: the questions, the matrix, the levels, the memory tricks. Nothing is sent to a server and there is no account to create, so there is nothing to fetch online during a round. A connection is needed only to download the app, to take out a subscription or to restore one, because those three operations go through the App Store.

Does a single subscription cover several children?

Yes. The subscription is tied to an Apple account, and the same Apple account installs the app on every device in the family: each child plays on their own, with their own progress and their own matrix, since everything is stored on the device. One case to watch out for: two children sharing a single iPhone also share the same matrix, as the app does not keep separate profiles on one device.
